“It is a sticky situation on the set of “State of Play.” Brad Pitt left the film due to script issues on the day before Thanksgiving. Both camps have different stories as to his walk off, but now a lawsuit is in the works. Universal claimed Pitt left a pay-or-play commitment and left open the option of suing him; Pitt’s camp claimed he was essentially forced out of a movie he’s been eager to topline [sic] for almost two years just because the studio wouldn’t wait for a strike resolution and a rewrite to bring the script back to a place that made him comfortable. If the studio chooses to sue Pitt, it would test the validity of a pay-or-play deal.

“The studio is said to be seriously thinking of suing Brad. The key factor will be whether or not Pitt actually signed a pay-or-play deal. Universal is adamant in the fact that he did, while Brad’s reps are under the impression he did not sign a deal.”
