“HOLLY SPRINGS, MS (NBC) — A Mississippi businessman is learning the cost of love. The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal from Jerry Fitch, Sr. Fitch was hoping the court would overturn a $750,000 ruling against him in an “alienation of affection” suit brought by plumber Johnny Valentine. Valentine sued Fitch after his wife Sandra had an affair with him and became pregnant. When Valentine learned that the child was not his he sued for divorce, then sued Fitch under Mississippi’s alienation of affection law. Mississippi is one of just seven states with alienation of affection laws still on the books….” All losers will now be moving to a state like that near you.
